Hammock Suspension Build Guides
- Hammock Suspension
- Continuous Loop Replacement
- Fast Shackle Tree Strap Connector / Carabineer Replacement
- Underquilt Clip Fast Shackle
- Pack Hanger Fast Shackle
Tarp Ridgeline and Guy lines: made with 1.75mm Lash-It or Zing – buy on the 180′ spool
- 40′-50 for continuous ridgeline
- 10′ for each of (4) to (6) tarp edge tieouts
- Titanium Dutch Hook – (1 for ridgeline primary end)
- Quickly wrap first end of ridgeline around tree and clip Dutch Hook to the rope
- Titanium Wasp – [hardware only] – (1 for ridgeline secondary end)
- Quickly tie off second end of ridgeline, tight. Easily adjust if needed.
- Nama Claw – (2 for ridgeline-to-tarp connections)
- Tarp hangs off these underneath continuous ridgeline
- Quickly adjust / reposition tarp on ridgeline. So so so easy to adjust.
- Plastic Line Lock Light [15mm] – (1 per tarp guy line / tie out line, minus 2 [as you don’t need any for the 2 connections to the ridgeline])
- Quick and easy adjustment of line tension
- Not optional. Must-have.
- Can pull a grosgrain tarp loop right thru the Line Lock and larkshead, or can add a small continuous loop made of Zing-It if the tarp has D-rings or loops that are too short.
- Fleastake – (1 per tarp guy line / tie out line)
- If you use a regular stake, you can pound it where you want it, then tie a slip knot, and then tighten the line at the Line Lock on the tarp side.
- Using a Fleastake makes it easier to adjust the line at the stake side, and perhaps a little quicker?
- NAMA Claw Tarp Connector
Tarp Parts
- BONDED ULTRALIGHT XENON HEX TARP
- Snake Skin / Tarp Sleeve
- Gives freedom to the “put tarp up or not” question – put the tarp up on the tree without unfurling it.
- I prefer the continuous 1-piece.

Options: Pick the color # 2 you want for the short part of your adjustable UCR hammock suspension, called the “shuttle”. This is the part that connects to the hammock. You’ll also use this color to make other things you’ll learn to build, like water bag hangers, flip flop hangers, pack hangers, tree strap connectors (carabiner replacements), etc.
UNDER QUILT SUSPENSION PARTS
Optional parts to make your HangTight underquilt work better. You don’t need these items if you buy a Hammock Gear underquilt, since they already come with an upgraded suspension.

Use: Goes on your hammock suspension close to the hammock for a wicking water break.
These are supposedly cotton unwaxed. - (1) KEVLAR SCISSORS @ $12.53

Use: You’ll use the small one for splicing Zing-It and the big one for Amsteel Blue. - (1) TYVEK 1443R FABRIC GROUND SHEET

NAMA GEAR ORDER
This part is highly recommended to make your tarp easier to use, but it isn’t required. It would be better if you just bought them from Tyson, because he usually has extra stock available so that we can all save on shipping costs.
(2) NAMA CLAW TARP POSITIONER/TENSIONER
Use: Easy to use replacement for a Prussiks knot. Slides like a dream and stays put where you want it to.

PREMIUM QUILTS FROM HAMMOCK GEAR
Advantages of Hammock Gear over HangTight
Lighter for more warmth.
Baffles are boxed instead of sewn-through, which eliminates cold spots and increases warmth.
Calendared fabric prevents down from from escaping (HangTight quilts often shed quite a bit of down).
Fabric has DWR water resistant finish that helps limit the ingress of water from splashes
Draft collars at ends prevent wind from blowing in the head/foot
Secondary suspension comes standard and helps prevent sag and cold spots
Custom colors
Length options available for tall and short people
UL models have 950 fill power down, which packs substantially smaller than the down/synthetic mix that’s in the HangTight quilts
Temperature ratings are known for comfort. Some feel the temp ratings on the HangTight are a little optimistic.
Contoured, body shape design

WALMART ORDER
(1) 2PK ZIPPERED PILLOW PROTECTOR
Use: properly store your down quilts (under & top) uncompressed in a breathable sack. Also good storage for hammock, so you might want to get a second 2-pack. Label BIG with colorful Sharpies to help ID the quilts you are pulling off the closet shelf.
